Business Continuity in Response to COVID-19 Pandemic

May 7, 2020

We Are In This Together
As the coronavirus situation continues to impact our lives, we want to keep our customers informed of any potential impacts of the coronavirus on our business continuity. Across the United States and Canada, our business has been designated as “Essential,” which has helped our operations to continue without interruption.

We are committed to making the batteries that are critical to infrastructures supporting the food industry, public safety, healthcare, data centers, military and materials handling that are on the frontlines of this health crisis. We are focused on keeping our manufacturing plants running to support our customers and we are working closely with our suppliers to ensure we have the necessary components to continue battery production. Exide’s senior leadership meets daily to review our current business situation and address any potential impacts to our business.

Precautionary Measures
The health and safety of our employees during this time remains our top priority and the lead battery industry already has high EHS standards in place to protect our employees on the job every day, which is even more important in today’s environment. To help keep our employees safe and our plants running, we have implemented the following additional measures:

  • Implementing mandatory temperature screening at each of the facilities
  • Purchasing 20,000 non-surgical masks to provide our employees with an added layer of protection
  • Canceling non-essential visits to the plants, including contractors, corporate and remote employees, and customers • Limiting large gatherings by staggering employee breaks and lunches and limiting face-to-face meetings
  • Fortifying processes used for cleaning of respirators worn by plant employees
  • Implementing remote work arrangements for Milton-based employees through May 15, 2020
  • Setting restrictions on domestic and international non-essential travel through May 15, 2020
  • Enhancing the cleaning protocols already in place to remove lead to focus on the sanitation of interaction points and shared spaces.

Next Steps
As state and local governments begin to lift restrictions on the operation of businesses, we will keep the precautionary measures listed above in place as they have successfully enabled us to service our customers and keep our employees safe throughout this situation.

Keeping You Informed
We will continue to keep you informed with regular updates as the COVID-19 situation evolves. We are doing everything in our power to ensure the safety and well-being of our employees and to prevent any disruption to the service we provide our customers.

Thank you for being a valued customer. We are in this together.
