Exide Demonstrates Commitment to Workplace Health and Safety

Exide locations across the United States to participate in OSHA’s annual Safe + Sound Week

Milton, Georgia (August 13, 2018) – Exide is proud to demonstrate its commitment to workplace health and safety by participating in Safe + Sound week, August 13-19, 2018. Safe + Sound week is a nationwide event to raise awareness and understanding of the value of safety and health programs that include management support, worker participation, and a systematic approach to finding and fixing hazards.

“A fundamental part of Exide’s mission is an unwavering commitment to workplace safety and this is a core value of our company as well,” said Ed Osborne, Exide Technologies Vice President, Environmental Health and Safety. “At Exide we view Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) as our responsibility to operate in a manner that protects the health, safety and well-being of our employees, contractors, visitors, and those in the communities where we live and operate. We are excited to participate in Safe + Sound Week because that responsibility starts with each of our employees understanding their role in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.”

Exide Technologies operates dozens of manufacturing plants, recycling plants and distribution centers across the United States. During Safe + Sound week the leadership and employees at each of our  locations will participate in workplace safety training designed to reinforce best practices for topics such as proper use of personal protective equipment and preventing workplace accidents. Employees will also participate in “Gemba Walks,” a process where management and employees walk through the facility to observe workers demonstrating best practices on the job. Additionally, many locations will hold contests that encourage employees to identify potential hazards in the workplace and how to fix them.

“Exide’s participation in Safe + Sound Week will build upon our culture, which is dedicated to achieving world-class EHS excellence and making conscious business decisions that are good for our people, our communities and the environment, ” concluded Osborne.
