Exide Technologies energizes Italian industry with new energy storage project

  • Tailored energy storage for industry: Exide delivers its Solition Mega Three system to support high-demand applications in Italy’s manufacturing sector
  • Scalable performance: With 1.7 MW / 3.44 MWh capacity, the solution helps industrial clients optimize energy use and reduce operational costs
  • The project reinforces Exide’s commitment to sustainable innovation, driving the energy transition

Exide Technologies has signed a new contract with an Italian foundry, specializing in structural castings for the machine and energy sectors, to deliver its Solition Mega Three, a large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) tailored to commercial and industrial (C&I) needs. This project marks a significant, strategic step in Exide’s expanding energy storage activities across Southern Europe.

The solution, based on Exide’s Solition Mega Three container system, offers 1,7 MW of power capacity and 3,44 MWh of energy capacity, making it ideal for energy-intensive industrial applications such as foundries, manufacturing plants, and heavy-duty processing facilities.

By integrating battery storage, C&I customers can manage peak loads, reduce energy costs, and improve energy reliability – all while accelerating their transition to a more sustainable footprint.

Exide Technologies’ Italian operations, located in the province of Bergamo, are specialized in energy storage systems, and excel in integrating these solutions with the energy market to generate additional revenue. This includes high-value consulting and revenue staking strategies aimed at maximizing long-term profitability.

“Energy storage has become a strategic asset for industrial clients across Europe,” said Michael Geiger, SVP of the Energy Solutions Division at Exide Technologies. “This project reflects our commitment to supporting the energy transition through scalable, high-performance solutions that deliver real operational value.”

With this new deployment, Exide Technologies strengthens its footprint in Italy and supports the industrial sector in unlocking energy resilience, flexibility, and decarbonization – key drivers of competitiveness in today’s evolving energy landscape.
